CRANBERRY, Pa. – Pennsylvania state police believe a man fatally ambushed a state trooper responding to a domestic dispute, and also killed his wife before turning the gun on himself, investigators said Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Lenny Bandy said a man police couldn't see yelled from a window as two troopers responded to a dispute at the home of Michael J. Smith, 44, shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When the troopers yelled back for the man to present himself, a man they believe is Smith instead fired one shot, striking Trooper Paul G. Richey as he attempted to enter a side door, according to Bandy.
"Trooper Richey did not have a chance to defend himself," Bandy said at a news conference Wednesday night. "He was ambushed."

Yep, this is near me. A terrible thing. If you read further, you will find that he has had many convictions, guns taken away from him and given back, PFA's against him from the wife that decided to go back who is now dead, and many other problems. When will the system work for women? When will gun laws be second to protecting women? EVER???
ReplyDeleteI never understand women going back.... and I was one of those that let my abuser come stay with me after I had gotten away. I thought it was for a weekend cus his house burned down after I left... what a dunce I was.
ReplyDeleteand the courts are pitiful at sentencing them for DV... I feel for that poor trooper's family. I know that DV calls are the most dangerous, unpredictable ones for LEO to go on. I believe if someone has a propensity for violence they should not be allowed a gun, but that wouldnt stop illegal gun buys. My ex had three guns and 2 big knives... and I never once considered killing him. Weird huh?
