DId you Know? Will you carry the message?

I know that many people, especially women are afraid to speak out for fear of looking like a victim, being ashamed, or for non victims, they are unable to face the destruction of some women's lives.

I used to think I was the walking dead. He might as well have killed me because I no longer was the same person. His blows delivered with horrible words, destroyed what little self esteem I had left. I tried to get away a few times, however the beatings were worse. I became frozen with fear, numb with desolation. And my story is repeated daily in other women. Every 12 seconds a woman in America is beaten. In the time it took you to read this, there were 3 women beaten. It is unknown how many children are effected by this crime. No child needs to see this, to be helpless, to feel powerless and to lose their innocence.

Here are some statistics to give you pause. These could be your daughter, sister, mother, friend. What can you do to help end this horrible cycle?

85-95% of all domestic violence victims are female.

Over 500,00 women are stalked by an intimate partner each year.

5.3 million women are abused each year.

1,232 women are killed each year by an intimate partner.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women.

Women are more likely to be attacked by someone they know rather than by a stranger.

  2. Thank you for giving back in sharing your testimony- your life...I remember Joyce Meyers specifically saying...that God allows us to go through tests that we might have a testimony. That's not to SAY God is delighting in EVIL. Things are soooo complex in this life and NOT everything is GOD ordained or breathed, though He's EVERYWHERE. HE TAKES NO PART IN EVIL, but does ALLOW us to OVERCOME through our trials!
I'm reminded of a poem I wrote one time-"Tamar's Fate" she was raped by her own half brother and it left immense consequences in that day and time. I can't relate to a one time physical abuse.....mine was an emotional one in a marriage where I almost took my very own life- that was the only forseeable way (at that time) that I could SEE A WAY of escape- a way OUT!!! PRAISE GOD- by HIS grace I'm here today. Thanks again for your INVOLVEMENT in this issue!!!

  3. Hi CC. It's Trish from our wonderful about.com jewelry forum. My mother was a victim of an abusive husband. Luckily for us 3 children, she did finally manage to leave him. Like you, she tried to leave several times only to get caught & beaten by him. She survived and taught me so many lessons from her own horrid experiences. When I was old enough to ask questions (I was 3 when she left him & he was a deadbeat dad...had to be suied for child support...I'm sure you get the pciture), she answered them candidly & I am so thankful for that. She taught me to love, but to also be strong. I think your endeavors are amazing!!! Women of all ages and all backgrounds need to know how to be strong and how to overcome and God will see you through. I KNOW you are an inspiration to soooo many women out there!!! May God continue to bless you!!
